Firearm Incident – Bridgewater Mcdonalds

On Saturday the 29th of May 2021 at around 1.35am police attended Bridgewater McDonalds in relation to a firearm being discharged through the drive-thru window towards a staff member. The offender had fled the scene.

Staff were not physically injured, but extremely traumatised by the event.

Police were on the scene within in minutes and a short time later, a 35-year-old man was located nearby and taken into police custody without incident. The firearm was also seized by police.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have observed a male acting suspiciously in the Bridgewater area between the hours of Midnight and 2:00am this morning. The suspect has distinct red facial hair, wearing a black puffer jacket, black and white Adidas track pants with florescent gloves.

The incident is extremely serious however it is an isolated incident and appears to be random.

Investigations into the incident are continuing with the male to appear at the Hobart Magistrate’s Court later today.
