Hamilton Double Murder Update

Police continue to investigate the double murder at Hamilton.  Forensic examinations at the house continued up until midnight last night and will recommence this morning.

The scene examination at Lachlan was completed yesterday and the vehicle involved has been seized and examinations on this will continue today.

It is anticipated that police will complete their forensic examinations at the house at Hamilton later this afternoon.

The identities of the 31-year-old woman and 34-year-old man found deceased at the property on Hamilton Plains Road at around 5am Sunday 16 December 2012 will be released when appropriate.

The suspect, a 59-year-old man, is in coma and remains in a critical condition. He is in the Royal Hobart Hospital under police guard.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone who can provide any information or background knowledge concerning the relationship that existed concerning these three people.  Contact can be made directly with investigators on 62302318.

It is anticipated that this incident has and will continue to cause significant concern in the local community and anyone experiencing difficulty dealing with this incident should contact their health provider, their GP, chaplain or contact the Central Highlands Community Centre at Ouse for assistance with making an appointment to seek assistance and counselling.

Counselling support through the school network has commenced to be provided for students who are connected with the children involved in this incident.
