Helicopter Rescue, Arthur Plain, Southwest Tasmania

At 10:30am on Sunday 1/1/17 the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to attend the Arthur Plain in Southwest Tasmania. A 58 year old Victorian woman had been bushwalking with her partner and intending to traverse the Western Arthur Range when she fell and broke her leg. Due to very low cloud the helicopter was forced to fly into the area via the D’Entrecasteaux Channel and the Huon River.

The helicopter eventually made it onto the Arthur Plain and landed nearby the inured woman and her partner.

The pair were very well prepared and also received assistance from another walking party that came across her.
