High Range Drink Driver Apprehended

On Saturday 23rd December 2017 at approximately 6:45pm, after receiving information from a member of the public, police from the Western Road and Public Order Services intercepted a 63 year old male from Devonport on the Esplanade, Turners Beach. The male returned a positive breath test and was taken into custody for a breath analysis.

The male was already a disqualified driver and has numerous prior convictions in relation to driving whilst under the influence of intoxicating liquor returned a reading of 0.231 which is nearly five time the legal limit of 0.05. The male was kept in custody to appear in court on Sunday 24th December. His vehicle was seized by police for an indefinite period due to his prior convictions.

Police would like to remind motorists that they are actively policing traffic offences, in particular driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as part of Operation Crossroads, during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
