High range drink driver caught in Devonport

A 45-year-old woman has been caught drink driving nearly four times the legal limit overnight.

The woman was intercepted by police in Devonport during a mobile patrol in the early hours of this morning.

She was breath tested and charged with drink driving after returning a reading of 0.191.

Her licence has been suspended for 12 months.

Acting Inspector Craig Harvey said this type of driving behaviour is extremely concerning and places all road users at serious risk.

“As part of Operation Safe Arrival police will be patrolling all hours of the day and night targeting ‘fatal five’ driving offences,” he said.

“If you drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, expect to be caught.”
