Police are investigating a fire at a property on Canning Street at Launceston early this morning. 

Around 1am, police on patrol observed a shed at the rear of 98 Canning Street fully engulfed in flames. The shed fire spread to the address and engulfed the roof area.

Police cordoned off area between Wellington Street and Bathurst Street and preserved the scene.

The fire service attended, and no persons were located inside the premises.

The Tasmania Fire Service believe the fire to be suspicious and as a result police are appealing for witnesses.
