House ransacked during burglary

Launceston Detectives are investigating a substantial burglary at a property in the East Coast town of Seymour between 3 August and 12 August.

Offenders forced entry to the Seymour home while the occupants were away on holiday, ransacking the home by spray painting and slashing walls, bedding, furniture and a wedding dress before leaving the house with an estimated $60,000 worth of stolen items.

Among the stolen items was a green Ford Courier utility and a 6 x 4 ‘King’ trailer fitted with a camper tent. Other stolen property includes a ride on lawn mower, chainsaws, power tools, jewellery, sporting equipment, bikes, kitchen appliances and electrical equipment.

“This is a substantial burglary and I am shocked at the extent of damage caused during the crime. We would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area around this time, to please come forward,” said Detective Sergeant Darren Turner
