Investigation continuing into fatal firearms incident

Police are continuing to search for a man believed to be involved in a fatal firearms incident at Bridgewater overnight.

Detective Acting Inspector Kelly Taylor said police were called to the scene in Douglas Drive shortly before 1am.

“Police were called to the residence after receiving a report a man had been shot,” she said.

“The 32-year-old man died at the scene, shortly after police arrived.”

“Police believe this was a targeted incident, between two people known to each other and an investigation is underway to locate the alleged offender.”

“Two other people, a man and a woman, who are believed to be linked to the incident are currently in police custody assisting with our inquiries.”

“We’re asking community members to come forward if they have any information about the incident itself, or the whereabouts of the second man.”

“Information can be provided anonymously.”

“Douglas Drive, Bridgewater remains closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and we would like to thank the local community for their assistance and patience as we carry out our investigations.”

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
