Police investigations are ongoing and formal identifications have been conducted in relation to a two-vehicle crash at Elizabeth Town Friday afternoon where tragically three people died, and two people remain in a critical condition.

The crash occurred about 2pm on the Bass Highway, east of the Gannons Hill Road intersection, and involved a white Chery station wagon and a white Isuzu D-MAX towing a trailer.

Sadly, both people in the Chery were declared deceased at the scene. Following formal identification processes, police can confirm these were 19-year-old women from the Devonport area.

Sadly, the rear seat passenger in the D-MAX was also declared deceased at the scene. Following formal identification processes, police can confirm this was a 51-year-old man from Wynyard.

Two other men, aged in their 40s, who were in the D-MAX remain in a critical condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Investigations into the cause of the crash remain ongoing.
