Male motorcycle rider intercepted speeding over 60km/h above limit

A male motorcycle rider has had his bike confiscated for 90 days and will appear before the Court after being detected speeding in excess of 60 kilometres above the speed limit in Bothwell yesterday.

Around 3.10pm yesterday, police detected a motorcycle speeding at 163kph in the 100kph zone on Highland Lakes Road.

The motorcycle evaded police and was later located in Goodwood.

The male rider is assisting police with their enquiries and will appear in Court at a later date in relation to a number of traffic offences. His motorcycle was seized by police for a period of 90 days.

Police remind motorists that there are substantial penalties involved with this type of driving behaviour, and take this opportunity coming into the busy Christmas Season to remind motorists that this behaviour could result in tragic circumstances, not only for the rider but for the many other road users that are expected to use the roads during this time.
