Male pedestrian hit by car – Mornington

Police are investigating a crash where a 28 year old Eastern Shore man was hit by a car on the Tasman Highway at Mornington about 10pm last night.

A white BMW sedan, travelling in an easterly direction, collided with the pedestrian who was walking on the highway at the time.

The pedestrian was treated by Ambulance Tasmania personnel at the scene and later conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.

Over the following hours the man’s condition improved and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

At the time of the crash the weather was fine and road was dry. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
