Burnie CIB has charged a 20-year-old man Shorewell Park man with multiple burglaries in the Shorewell Park area that occurred in June 2020.

Police allege the man broke into a Shorewell Park residence and stole car keys, before stealing a nearby vehicle. The vehicle was involved in a minor crash at Ridgley, before evading police and being located burnt out in Acton.

Police further allege the man committed a significant burglary in June 2020, involving the theft of several ATVs at an education facility. These ATVs were worth $21,000 and were quickly recovered by police.

The man was charged with Aggravated Burglary x1, Burglary x3, Stealing x2, Motor Vehicle Stealing x3, Evade Police (Aggravated Circumstances x2, Negligent Driving x1, Unlawfully Setting Fire to Property x1 and various other offences.

The man remains in custody and next appears in the Burnie Magistrates Court on 11/08/2020.
