Man charged over failing to report partner’s death

A 69 year old Cranbrook man has been charged after he allegedly failed to report his partner’s death in August.

 

Following information received, officers from Bellerive CIB and Forensic Services attended the scene on Tuesday and Wednesday where a grave containing the body of a female was located on a rural property.

 

Police allege the man buried his partner’s body on the property after she died in August 2020.  Police also allege he failed to report the death to authorities as required.

 

The man was interviewed and charged with one count of failing to report a death, and one count of mishandling human remains.

 

He will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 10th of March 2021.

 

Investigations are continuing into the matter.
