Detectives from Bellerive CIB have charged a 24-year-old man from Claremont in relation to an alleged firearms incident in Sandford on Monday night.

Approximately 10:30am today, police executed a search warrant at an address in Claremont where the man was arrested.

An illicit firearm was located and seized during the search.

Police will allege the man was in possession of the firearm during a confrontation at a private residence in Sandford on Monday evening. No one was injured during the incident.

The man was charged with aggravated assault and firearm offences and will appear before an out of hours court this evening.

Police take firearms crime seriously.
