Man charged over Warrane firearms incident

A 35 year old Clarendon Vale man has been charged over a firearms incident in Warrane yesterday.

 

Police were called to a report of a man in a small maroon Hyundai sedan in possession of a firearm in Bligh Street Warrane about 4pm yesterday.

 

The man was alleged to have pointed the firearm from the vehicle at another person in the street before driving off.

 

The vehicle avoided police interception on Bligh Street, Dampier Street and Bass Street, but was located a short time later in Shackleton Street.

 

The alleged offender was located in the backyard of a residence where he was arrested.

 

The man was charged with aggravated assault, firearms and driving offences.

 

He will be appearing in the Hobart Magistrates Court this afternoon.
