Man charged with Aggravated Armed Robbery

Police have charged a 37-year-old man from Newnham in relation to an aggravated armed robbery that occurred in Mowbray last night.

Police will allege that around 6pm, the man attended a residence at Mowbray and stole items including a quantity of drugs and money.

The resident of the property was not injured and did not want to make a formal report to police in relation to the matter.

During the investigation today, police have recovered a .22 calibre rifle and a stolen motorcycle.

The man has been charged with aggravated armed robbery and several firearms related offences. He was detained to appear before an out of hours session at the Launceston Magistrates Court tonight.

It is believed the incident last night was targeted and the people involved were known to each-other.
