A 19 year old male has today been charged with evading police, motor vehicle stealing and other related driving charges.

The male was observed driving a stolen vehicle in the early hours of the morning and after driving at a police vehicle, subsequently evaded police.

The stolen vehicle was involved in two separate crashes later in the day, where it collided with parked vehicles.

As a result the 19 year old male was located on foot after dumping the stolen motor vehicle and was subsequently arrested without incident and detained.

Tasmania Police will not tolerate these types of offences and the manner of driving that places the police and the members of our community at risk. This male and other offenders who choose to commit these offences will be held accountable and charged.”
