Man charged with stealing windows/door from Burnie house

Burnie CIB detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Waratah this morning. As a result of this search, police recovered six windows and a door, which were recently stolen from a house under construction in Arhanni Street, Burnie. The door and some of the windows had been installed at the residence in Waratah and had to be removed from the structure.

A 39-year-old man from Waratah was arrested and has since been charged with burglary, stealing and traffic offences in relation to the incident.

Police would like to thank members of the public who provided information.

Police are still investigating several other houses under construction being targeted by thieves in Burnie:

  • Overnight 27th-28th March 2021: Multiple wood heaters were stolen from a residence in Anglesea Street, Wivenhoe;
  • Between 30th March and 3rd May 2021: A quantity of property, including Makita tools, were stolen from a trailer residence undergoing renovations in Arthur Street, Somerset.
