A man is in custody after an aggravated carjacking on Main Road, Moonah this evening.

About 6.25pm, a man returned to his vehicle where he was threatened by a man with what is believed to be a knife.

The man stole the silver Toyota Camry and left the scene heading towards Creek Road, Moonah.

Police responded, deploying road spikes to intercept the vehicle before it came to a stop in Pierce Street, Moonah. and the driver fled the scene.

Police searched the area and successfully located the alleged offender taking him into custody about 7.45pm.
