Members of the public praised after Musselroe Bay rescue

Two men have been rescued by members of the public after their boat ran aground on rocks inside the Musselroe Bay barway last night.

Police were called after the recreational craft ran aground about 8:30pm on Sunday 16 December with two men on boat (one was the registered boat owner).

The boat came off the rocks, however had sustained significant damage to its propulsion systems and was rowed onto a nearby sand bar.

Conditions within the bar way were calm, however there was a significant amount of flood water causing visibility below water to be extremely poor.

A local boat owner and a volunteer crew member launched and attended to the boat, rescuing the occupants and securing the boat for collection today.

Neither the boat owner nor his crew member were injured or required ambulance attention.

Police are extremely grateful for the assistance of the Musselroe Bay locals who assisted with this rescue.
