Motorcycle seized and rider charged following serious traffic offences

Police have charged a Chigwell man with multiple serious traffic offences including exceeding the speed limit by 121km/h, evading police and reckless driving.

Around 6.40pm last Friday, police detected three motorcycles travelling at 201km/h in an 80km/h section of the Brooker Highway at Glenorchy. The bikes were displaying false and/or stolen number plates.

The motorcycles actively avoided interception by police and continued to ride in a manner that presented a serious risk individually, and to other road users.

Investigations led police to a Chigwell residence, where a Yamaha R1 motorcycle was located and seized, and a 32-year-old man was charged.

Anyone who may have witnessed the involved motorcycles on the Brooker Highway at the time or is able to provide additional information, is urged to contact Southern Road and Public Order Services on 6173 2419 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can be provided anonymously.
