A 41 year old man from Franklin has appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court on 18th December 2011, charged with one count of murder and one count of arson.

Stuart Barry RUSSELL, of New Road, Franklin was charged by Kingston Detectives following the discovery of a deceased male at a house in Marsden’s Lane, Eggs and Bacon Bay, south of Hobart, on the 17th of December 2011.

He was remanded in custody to re-appear at the Hobart Magistrates Court on 19th December 2011.

The deceased male is yet to be formally identified, but relatives have been notified of the Police Investigation, which is continuing at the scene today.

A post mortem is scheduled to be conducted on Monday the 19th December 2011, where formal identification of the deceased will take place.

Police wish to speak to any member of the public who witnessed any activity in Eggs and Bacon Bay on Friday evening (16th) or the early hours of Saturday morning (17th), particularly in the area between Marsden’s Lane and Flakemores Road, including the waterfront.
