Offenders Apprehended from Stolen Vehicle

Police took 5 youths in custody after a stolen white Pulsar was spiked in Berriedale about 9.15 on Saturday morning. All 5 suspects were apprehended within minutes of fleeing the stolen vehicle.

 The events started in the early hours of Saturday morning when a vehicle was stolen from Bridgewater.  The vehicle was later sighted in the New Norfolk area at approximately 7.30am, and again around 9am on the Bridgewater Causeway where members of the public reported the vehicle driving erratically.

The stolen vehicle travelled onto the Lyell Highway towards New Norfolk.  Police followed from a distance, whilst other police resources were set up ahead.  This resulted in a successful spiking of the vehicle tyres in the Berriedale area.

Police will continue to investigate the incident, and other matters overnight including a burglary at a business in the Derwent Valley.
