Police have taken one man into custody following a report of a firearm being discharged at Rokeby earlier today.

Police were notified of the incident about 11.30am, with a man alleging a vehicle pulled alongside him while he was walking near Burtonia Street, Rokeby.

It was reported one man stepped out of the vehicle to fire a single shot from a small firearm in the direction of the pedestrian, before leaving in the vehicle.

No one was injured during the incident and police believe the parties involved are known to each other.

Bellerive police and members of the Special Operations Group responded quickly to the incident and a man has been safely taken into custody.

Crime scenes have been established at Burtonia Street, Rokeby, and also at Holmfield Avenue, Clarendon Vale, and while members of the public may notice an increased police presence at this time, there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Police have already located the firearm believed to have been used in the incident and have also located the suspect vehicle, which will undergo examination.

Investigations are continuing through detectives from South East CIB division.
