Yesterday saw one female driver charged with exceeding the 0.05% blood alcohol limit and also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol because her driving was so poor.  She had driven from Dunalley and was heading to Sandy Bay when she was intercepted by police on the Tasman Bridge.  As a result of a breath analysis she was found to be five times over the limit and recorded a reading of 0.252. Another example of police enforcement during Operation Crossroads preventing what could have been a serious or fatal crash.

The New Year has also only seen 12 crashes across the state for the day.  Fortunately none of those crashes were serious and only four required short hospital admissions.  The cause of the crashes were driving too fast for the slippery road after rain x 1 and failing to give way x 3.  It has been pleasing to see that over the past two days there have been no fatal or serious crashes.
