Pedestrian injured at Kingston

An 83 year old Kingston woman is in the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition after being struck by a motor vehicle that she was directing into a parking spot in the driveway entrance to a unit complex in Kingston.

The crash occurred at approximately 9am this morning (Friday 19th November). At that time the injured female was standing in the parking area of the complex in Hutchins Street. She was directing the driver of a Daihatsu sedan to reverse into a parking space.

The driver’s foot has slipped off the brake onto the accelerator and the vehicle has reversed back striking and trapping the female between the rear of the vehicle and a brick wall.

The driver of the vehicle was conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital suffering from shock.

The investigator, Constable Kirk Broadribb, would like to hear from any member of the public who may have witnessed the incident. Anyone with any information is asked to call Kingston Police on 6211 8000.
