Police conduct ‘Lockdown’ Operation in Cressy today
Police today conducted a ‘Lockdown Operation’ of Cressy between 11am and 1.30pm.
The operation involved the placement of police resources at each entry point to Cressy and the interception of vehicles entering and leaving the township. The operation utilised 15 Police Officers, a Drug Detection Dog, an unmarked police motorcycle and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
There were a small number of matters detected, including minor drug offences, traffic infringements and liquor offences.
“This type of police operation is a standard practice across the state and will continue at random locations, at random times,” said Senior Sergeant Michael Gillies.
“These operations are targeted at those individuals who believe there is less chance of apprehension in country areas.
“The community can be assured that Tasmania Police will continue to conduct these operations anywhere, anytime.”
