Police conducting Crime Clearance Day in Clarence Division

Police will conduct a Crime Clearance Day across Clarence Division today – aimed at impacting criminal behaviour and reducing crime.

“As part of Tasmania Police’s Southern District Crime Reduction Plan, teams of police will undertake intelligence-led policing activities across the Clarence Division today,” said Acting Inspector Ben Duffey.

Teams will consist of officers from Operation Saturate, Southern District Support Services, Bellerive Criminal Investigation Branch, Southern Drug Investigation Services and Clarence Uniform.

“Intelligence-led activities will have a focus on locating, arresting and charging bail offenders, high-volume crime offenders, known outstanding warrant offenders and outstanding family violence offenders,” said Inspector Duffey.

“A high-visibility police operation will also be conducted in the vicinity of the Rosny Bus Mall utilising the Police Dog Handler Unit.”

Activities are focused on detecting and reducing crime and making the community safer for everyone.

“While activities like today’s Crime Clearance Day contribute to preventing crime, it’s timely to remind people to take steps to target harden their belongings from burglary and theft.

“Thieves are often opportunistic and locking your property and keeping valuables out of sight are two easy steps that can prevent your belongings from being a target for burglars.”
