Police confiscate hooning ute in Burnie

Police have today confiscated the green Ford ute responsible for the dangerous driving behaviour in Wiseman Street, Burnie on Sunday night and are working to locate the driver.

The ute, which has been heavily posted on social media, has been confiscated for a minimum period of six months.

“Not only is it dangerous and reckless, but places other road users and members of the public at risk.  If the vehicle had lost control, the consequences may have been fatal,” said Senior Sergeant Steve Jones from Burnie Police.

“Members of the public can be assured that police take this dangerous driving behaviour very seriously and will enforce the appropriate legislation to either clamp or confiscate offending vehicles.”

Police are following a number of enquiries to identify the driver responsible for the incident on Sunday night and similar incidents committed in recent weeks.
