Police continue to investigate suspicious death at Ravenswood

Police are continuing to investigate the suspicious death of a 29 year old man in Ravenswood earlier today.

Detective Inspector Kim Steven said that the man had been identified as Timmothy Matthew Gardiner, 29, of Ravenswood.

Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Detective Inspector Steven said that police and emergency services were called to an address in Blyth St, Ravenswood, about 7.50am today.

Police located the man at the scene with a single gunshot wound to the chest.

“At this early stage of the investigation, any death involving a firearm is treated as suspicious until proven otherwise,” Detective Inspector Steven said.

“We are working to determine Tim’s location at the time he was shot, as we believe that he received his injuries at another location. Anyone who may have been with Tim in the past two days is asked to contact police to allow us to determine his movements over the past 48 hours.”

Police including officers from CIB, Forensics and Uniform attended the scene and are conducting examinations.
