Police investigate Waverley incident

Police are investigating a report of shots being fired through a window of a private residence in Waverley overnight.

Police were called a residence in Fryett St about 12.30am, where upon police arrival it was confirmed that two shots had been fired into the front window of a residence. An occupant was home at the time of the shooting but they were uninjured.

Uniform police, forensic officers and detectives attended the scene and several exhibits were collected.

Police would like to speak to anyone that heard a loud V6 vehicle in the Waverley area at around 12.30am on Wednesday morning. 

Police ask residents in Waverley to check CCTV or dash cam footage and report anything suspicious to police.

The firearms taskforce is continuing to actively investigate all information provided regarding illegal firearms in our community.

Police have seized a total of 25 illegal firearms in the past four weeks, as well as over 1000 rounds of ammunition and quantities of drugs including ICE.

We know that there are people out there in the community who know people in possession of illegal firearms. Please come forward provide information so we can take these illegal firearms off the street permanently.
