Police investigating car burglaries overnight on Eastern Shore

Bellerive CIB are investigating a series of car burglaries in the Howrah, Clarendon Vale and Cremorne areas over the last three nights.

Police have received reports of 15 vehicles broken into, with the majority reportedly unlocked at the time of the burglary.

A variety of items were stolen including wallets and money.

Police would like to remind vehicle owners that thieves are often opportunistic and are looking for a quick grab, if they see a vehicle unlocked, it’s an attractive target for a burglary.

Anyone with information in relation to the burglaries, or suspicious activity, is asked to phone police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.

Vehicle owners are encouraged to secure their vehicles to deter burglary:

  • Lock your car doors and make sure all the windows are up – make it hard for thieves to enter.
  • Don’t leave valuables in sight – if your car looks empty thieves may not bother trying to break in.
  • Park your car in a driveway or well-lit area at night – being easily seen may deter offenders.
