Police investigating theft of hand sanitiser from Mersey Community Hospital

Police are encouraging members of the community to consider their actions as they investigate the theft of hand sanitiser from the Mersey Community Hospital.

Around 7pm on Wednesday night, two women were seen leaving the Mersey Community Hospital with bottles of hand sanitiser.

“A review of CCTV from the hospital shows two women exiting the hospital through the rear doors near Accident and Emergency with bottles of hand sanitiser,” said Inspector Robert Gunton of Burnie CIB.

“It’s incredibly disappointing, especially during this time of emergency, that someone would steal sanitiser from a hospital and the people that provide vital medical services to our community.”

A police investigation conducted at the hospital determined six bottles of hand sanitiser had been stolen.

Anyone who saw two brown-haired women in the hospital around 7pm on Wednesday night, one wearing a pink jumper and one grey, is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
