Police investigations are ongoing and following a specific line of inquiry in relation to a wounding incident at Claremont early this morning.
About 5am, police attended an address on Curlew Parade following a report that two people had entered the residence and assaulted the occupants.
A man in his 20s was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital where he remains in a serious condition. Investigations to date indicate the man sustained a gunshot wound to the hip.
A woman in her 20s received medical treatment for injuries that did not require hospitalisation. It is reported the woman was struck with the side of an axe a number of times.
Police believe the incident was targeted, and all parties involved are known to each other.
Investigations are ongoing and following a specific line of inquiry to locate the offenders believed to have been involved.
