A police officer from the Northern District has been charged with driving offences.

The officer has been charged with dangerous driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

She has been suspended from duty and will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.

The charges relate to an incident alleged to have occurred in Launceston on July 20.

The officer was off duty at the time and was driving a private vehicle.
