Police seize vehicle following excessive speeding in Northern Tasmania

A 34-year-old man from Victoria has had his vehicle seized by police after being detecting in Launceston travelling 57km/hr over the posted speed limit.

Police from Northern Road and Public Order Services detected the white Holden ute travelling at 107km/hr on George Street and 100km/h on York Street in the Launceston CBD shortly after 10pm on Saturday evening.

The driver, was issued with fines of $1978, a fixed disqualification period of 8 months, 12 demerit points and his vehicle was impounded for 3 months.
