Provisional Drivers Charged With Hooning Offences

At 10:00pm on Friday 23 December 2022, police responded to a number of calls about vehicles hooning in the Cambridge area.

As a result of investigations, police later located two of the vehicles involved, identifying those responsible.  The two seventeen year old, provisional drivers will be proceeded against under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1997 in relation to hooning offences.

Despite repeated pleas from police, young, inexperienced motorists continue to jeopardise the safety of themselves, their passengers and other road users through this high-risk driving behaviour.  With the festive period now underway, Senior Constable Hayden Williams said that police will be targeting the fatal five driving behaviours and other high-risk driving, such as hooning through Operation Safe Arrival.

Police encourage members of the public to continue to report poor driving behaviour and hooning by phoning 131 444.  Alternatively, members of the public with dashcam, CCTV or other footage can be uploaded by our online portal at https://taspol.au.evidence.com/axon/citizen/public/traffic_complaints
