Sandy Bay charges

During the early hours of Tuesday morning (22 November 2011) Hobart police arrested an 18 year old man and a 17 year old youth, both of Sandy Bay,  while they were in the process of stealing property from yachts moored at the Derwent Sailing Squadron.

Police allege both people have been responsible for a number of other crimes committed within the Sandy Bay and Battery Point areas, including stealing property from the Hutchins School and the Waimea Primary School, setting fire to the toilet block at Marieville Esplanade and also damaging vehicles parked in the local area.

In total both people have each been charged with 22 crimes and they have been bailed to appear in court at a later date.

Inspector Woolley, Officer-in-Charge of the Hobart Police Station, expressed his thanks to local residents within the Marieville Esplanade area for their vigilance and assistance.
