Search ongoing for missing bushwalkers in the Mt Field National Park

The search is ongoing this morning to locate four bushwalkers missing in the Mount Field National Park area since yesterday afternoon.

“Around 4.15pm yesterday police received a report of four bushwalkers who had become disoriented and lost at the top of Tarn Shelf in the Mount Field National Park area,” said Inspector Philippa Burk.

“Around 5.30pm the bushwalkers, two male and two female, all aged in their early 20’s, were sighted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter but due to poor weather conditions the helicopter was unable to safely land at the location.

“A ground crew were dispatched to where the helicopter had sighted the bushwalkers at Mt Bridges near Lake Webster but when ground crews arrived the bushwalkers had moved on from that location.

“The search has re-commenced this morning utilising ground crews and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.”
