At 1.15am this morning, 20 December 2011, police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at the George Town IGA supermarket.

As the result of a shooting incident involving a police officer, one man has been taken to the LGH. His injuries, to his left buttock, are not believed to be life threatening.

A second man was also arrested.

Tasmania Police Professional Standards are investigating the incident and will attend the scene.
