Shooting Incident at Seymour

 

At 7.00pm Thursday, 31st December 2015 police were called to a report of shots being fired in Champ Street, Seymour.  A further report was received that the offender had moved into another house and was shooting at people from nearby.

Police attended and a short time later where a 44 year old man from Seymour was arrested as he attempted to leave the area in a motor vehicle.

The offender is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.  Major Crime investigators along with Forensic Services personnel are attending the scene to continue with the investigation into the matter.  Uniformed members remain at the scene interviewing witnesses.

A man has received a gunshot wound to the arm as a result of the shooting, but his injuries are not considered serious.  The incident was not family violence related but it is believed that family members were being threatened by the shooter.

Police will continue to investigate allegations of attempted murder, firearms and drink driving offences committed by the offender.
