Significant ICE Seizure – Launceston Airport – 14 January 2020

On the 14th January 2020, Tasmania Police were conducting passenger screening at the Launceston Airport with the assistance of the PD FANG from the Tasmania Police Drug Dog Detection Unit which resulted in the search of a female passenger travelling from Melbourne.

The search located 112 grams of Methylamphetamine (ICE) in her possession.

A 25 year old Newnham female has been charged with Trafficking in a controlled substance along with other drug related offences and bailed to appear at the Launceston Magistrates Court on the 4th March 2020.

“Seizures such as this significantly impact the availability and distribution of methylamphetamine or ‘ICE’ within the community” – Detective Senior Sergeant Matthew Shea of Northern Drug Investigation Services, Launceston.
