Around 8.40pm last night emergency services attended the scene of a single vehicle crash at Oatlands where two people were reportedly trapped.

A blue Toyota Hi-Lux single cab utility had crashed on York Plains Road approximately 10 kilometers from the Midlands Highway where two people were reportedly trapped.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the scene as the male driver was trapped with suspected spinal injuries. The 18-year-old from Oatlands was flown in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the Royal Hobart Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The 18-year-old female passenger was treated at the scene.

Initial indications are that the cause of the crash may be as a result of inexperience as the utility travelled into the gravel verge causing the driver to lose control.
