At 11.30pm Monday 4^th January 2016, Tasmania Police and Fire Service were called to attend a structure fire at 7A Commondarry Court, Smithton.

Fire crews found a Housing Choices residential unit well alight, with part of the roof collapsed, upon arrival.   Extensive damage was caused to the unit valued at $160, 000.

The unit was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were sustained by anyone in the area.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by Tasmania Fire Service and Police.
