Tasmania Police’s Operation Saturate taskforce continues to deliver strong results in Southern Tasmania.

Tasmania Police’s Operation Saturate taskforce continues to deliver strong results in southern Tasmania.

“Operation Saturate was re-instated in southern Tasmania in December, and since that time the Saturate team has arrested 56 people (including seven youths) who are recidivist offenders,” said Acting Commander John Toohey.

“The resulting charges include aggravated armed robbery, burglary, stealing, unlawfully set fire to property, assault, breach of bail, firearm offences, drug offences, dangerous driving, evade police and disqualified driving,” he said.

“By monitoring known offenders closely, taskforce members are able to identify their habits, movements and preferred crimes,” he said.

“These offenders are then held accountable for their actions, and further crimes are prevented.”

“The operation is working to support the boosted high visibility police patrols that are currently occurring within key shopping precincts and the Hobart waterfront, and Saturate members are also assisting local police with searches, traffic operations and public order issues.”

“The taskforce is flexible, and enables officers to be quickly deployed to key locations and hotspots as they arise.”

“Anyone who witnesses illegal or anti-social behaviour should report it to police on 131 444, or triple-zero (000) in an emergency.”

“Information can also be provided to Crime Stoppers at crimestopperstas.com.au, and you can stay anonymous.”
