A 66-year-old Burnie man has been disqualified from driving for 24 months after being detected driving three times over the legal blood alcohol limit.

The Burnie man was taken to Burnie Police Station, where a Breath Analysis was conducted, returning a result of 0.181, more than three times the legal limit.

The man was stopped by police during a joint Road Safety Operation in Burnie on New Year’s morning, which was conducted by Burnie Police and Western Road Policing Services. A total of three people were detected driving whilst exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit and subsequently charged during the operation.

All three people will appear in court at a later date.

Police seek to remind motorists that officers will continue to monitor driving behaviour, and drink and drug offences will be targeted, to ensure the safety of the Tasmania Public during this holiday period.
