Three vehicle crash – Bass Highway – Ulverstone

THREE VEHICLE CRASH BASS HIGHWAY ULVERSTONE

At about 11.30am on Tuesday 22 December 2015 police were called to a multiple vehicle crash on Bass Highway, Ulverstone on the eastern bound lanes near the Castra Road overpass.

The accident involved a Toyota utility, a harvester and a Custom Western Star truck which was carrying potato waste. As well as the vehicle collision, the truck also collided with a tree and rolled over.

Initial enquiries into the accident indicate that driver inattention was a factor in the cause of the crash.

Due to the nature of the crash, traffic heading east were re-diverted at the area of  Lovett Street junction as for in excess of 7 hours at least one lane was blocked. Heavy vehicles were permitted through one lane when opportunity presented itself. This was at the direction of on scene police.

No-one was injured as a result of the incident.

Police would like to publicly thank a number of members of the public who offered assistance to police and emergency services at the scene.

Police from Ulverstone and Western RPOS attended the scene along with Tas Fire Service, Tas Ambulance, SES and Transport Tasmania.
