Trail bike seized after hooning incident at Gagebrook

A 20-year-old Bridgewater man will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court after his motorcycle was seized by police this morning.

Police were undertaking targeted patrols in the Gagebrook area when they witnessed the male riding an unregistered trail bike in a dangerous manner. Police observed the bike to be travelling at a high speed and on its back wheel before intercepted by police nearby.

“This sort of dangerous behaviour places not only the rider, but the public at risk and is something that police take seriously,” said Sergeant Jason Klug.

“I remind members of the community to report incidents of dangerous riding to police. We will investigate and the riders potentially face fines, vehicle seizures and a loss of licence. Worse, they could seriously injure or kill themselves or someone else.”

Dangerous riding can be reported to police on 131 444 or to Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
