Training exercise at Hobart Airport precinct
Tasmania Police wishes to assure members of the community if they see an increased emergency services presence at Hobart Airport tomorrow (Thursday, 8 October), it is planned training and there is no need for concern.
Inspector Adam Mollineaux said the planned training exercise within and around the airport precinct was a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirement to test the Airport Emergency Plan.
“Between 8.30am and 4pm on Thursday, there will be an increased emergency services presence at the Hobart Airport, with emergency responders and volunteers participating in planned emergency response training,” Inspector Mollineaux said.
“For those members of the public who see a heightened level of emergency services at the Hobart Airport, there is no need for concern. We are undertaking planned training for emergency services and Hobart Airport personnel to practice, and refine, their response in a lifelike and safe environment.”
The training exercise will not disrupt regular scheduled passenger flights.
