Two men charged following Devonport aggravated burglary

Two men have been charged following an aggravated burglary at a Devonport residence late last night where a man was seriously injured.

Around 11.30pm two men entered a residence on Croft Avenue and assaulted the male resident with what is alleged to have been a paling and a metal pole.

The injured resident was transported to the Launceston General Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

As part of the ongoing police investigation, early this morning two men were charged in relation to the incident.

A 45-year-old man from Burnie and a 29-year-old man from Devonport were both charged with Aggravated Burglary and Assault. They will appear before the Court at a later date.

Police would like to assure the community this was not a random attack and the men involved were known to each other.
